Closer to home, you can take in the artwork displayed at the Bellevue Arts Museum, which is currently hosting a Joey Veltkamp exhibit. For those who are curious about how things are made and how industrial innovations took place, we suggest visiting the Museum of History and Industry.
Journey through the history of pop culture and the original Seattle music scene, as well as explore your inner child, at the Museum of Pop Culture. Finally, take a trip to the Nordic region of the world and discover the hardships of immigrants at the National Nordic Museum. Gain new knowledge of our area, but never stop seeking more.
Odds and Ends
The greater Bellevue/Seattle area is full of odd attractions that will leave you wondering why they are there, but also make you glad that they are. Enter a world of fantasy and defeat the Fremont Troll, an 18-foot sculpture created in the 1990s, that lingers under the Aurora Bridge. If you need to spice up your Instagram feed, head on over to the Selfie Museum and discover your best angles in a pit of sprinkles or a hall of mirrors.
The most famous landmark of the Pacific Northwest, which was originally made for the World’s Fair, stands 605 feet in the air, and has the best view of the city, is the infamous Space Needle. You can be awestruck by the engineering marvel and can dine in their revolving restaurant, but be sure to snag yourself a reservation. End your tour with perhaps the weirdest destination in the entire state of Washington, the Gum Wall. Located in Post Alley off of Pike Place Market, the Gum Wall is home to years of chewed-up confections, so be sure to leave your mark. It’s always good to step out of your comfort zone and there is no better area to do it in than Bellevue and Seattle.

The music and theater scene of the Pacific Northwest has been one of note internationally. We’ve had bands such as Pearl Jam and Nirvana, touring Broadway shows, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Discover the future of music at classic venues such as The Crocodile or The Nuemos. Catch the current pop favorites at Marymoor Park or The Showbox. For live theater, visit the Meydenbauer Center where you can catch local performances and you can even reserve it for a performance of your own.
If you can’t make it to New York, don’t worry because you can see the touring Broadway favorites at The Paramount Theater. Lastly, you can fall in love with the romantic movements of the Pacific Northwest Ballet company at McCaw Hall. Their fall performance calendar is out now, so grab your tickets quickly.
